All four health funds are in Kiryat Gat (NBN (opens in a new tab)), and three of them have a clinic inside Carmei Gat. Browse health fund branches, doctors and urgent care.
Clinics inside Carmei Gat
- Clalit: a combined clinic at 1 Avnei HaChoshen Blvd (the Gat Center building), with a pharmacy, Tipat Chalav and a child development institute at the same address (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).
- Maccabi: the Carmei Gat medical centre at 1 Sderot Avnei HaChoshen, 08-6243333 (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)).
- Leumit: 157 Lachish Blvd, 08-6923300, with a pharmacy, lab and flu shots (Leumit (opens in a new tab)).
- Meuhedet: a 2021 local news report puts its Carmei Gat clinic at 153 Lachish Blvd, 08-6448356 (shhuna.co.il (opens in a new tab)). Meuhedet's site blocks automated checks, so please confirm the address and hours before you go.
Doctors who list English
Maccabi's service guide lists English among the spoken languages for 61 of its 66 doctors in Kiryat Gat, including family doctors, a paediatrician and gynaecologists at the Carmei Gat centre; one rheumatologist also lists French (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)). I've listed a sample in the directory. The other funds don't publish languages in a way I could check.
Clalit's specialist centre is at 37 HaAtzmaut Blvd (08-9335222), with ENT, orthopaedics, cardiology, women's health, X-ray and more (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).
After hours
- Terem Kiryat Gat, 10 Cheshvan St, phone 1-599-520-520. Terem lists Sun-Fri 09:00 to 05:45 and Sat 08:00 to 05:45, and says that between 04:00 and 05:45 there is no doctor on site (Terem (opens in a new tab)). Leumit names Terem as its emergency centre.
- Clalit's evening clinic at Ramot David (16 Netivot Shalom St) runs Mon, Wed and Thu 18:00-21:00 (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).
- Ambulance: 101. MDA's Kiryat Gat station is at 6 Lachish Blvd (MDA (opens in a new tab)).
- ERAN (emotional first aid) 1201 and NATAL (trauma from war or terror) 1-800-3633631 are on the municipality's list (municipality (opens in a new tab)).
Which hospital?
I'll be honest: I couldn't find a source that says which hospital Carmei Gat residents are taken to by default. What I found:
- Barzilai in Ashkelon (24/7 lines 08-6745555 and 08-6663106) (Barzilai (opens in a new tab)). NBN says it's about 35 km away, 35-45 minutes' drive (NBN (opens in a new tab)), and a 2015 Maariv report describes MDA Kiryat Gat taking a patient there (Maariv (opens in a new tab)).
- Soroka in Be'er Sheva (08-6400111) and Kaplan in Rehovot (08-9441211) are Clalit hospitals (Clalit (opens in a new tab)). When Soroka was hit and evacuated, its patients were moved to Barzilai, Assuta Ashdod and hospitals in the centre (Ynet (opens in a new tab)).
In practice, MDA decides where an ambulance goes. If you know how it works for Carmei Gat, or your fund's referral hospital, please tell me with the email button on the About page.
Dentists
Clalit Smile has clinics in Gat Center (1st floor) and the Yishpro Center (Clalit (opens in a new tab)), but no source I found says English is spoken at any Carmei Gat dentist, so I haven't listed one yet. Recommendations with a public source are very welcome.
