Where do I register my child for gan?

On the Kiryat Gat municipality's online gan registration site. For 2026-27 registration ran from 19 January to 8 February 2026. Questions go to the municipality's Mercaz Merian early-childhood centre.

Does registering early get my child a better gan?

No. The municipality states that children are not placed according to the date or time of registration.

Are there religious gans?

Yes. Most of the clusters listed are state-religious (mamlachti dati), and there are Haredi and Chabad gans around Nahal Alexander, Sderot Carmei Gat, Esther HaMalka St and the north of the neighbourhood.

What is there for babies under 3?

Recognised ma'onot listed by the Ministry of Education: Tirosh (Sderot Carmei Gat), Cramim and Shaked (Sderot Avnei HaChoshen) and Yahalomim (Sderot Lachish / Sderot Carmei Gat). Chabad also runs ma'onot across Kiryat Gat for ages 3 months to 3 years.

Carmei Gat's gans are kindergartens of the Kiryat Gat municipality, registered with the Ministry of Education. They come in state (mamlachti), state-religious (mamlachti dati) and Haredi streams, including Chabad gans, and are spread through the neighbourhood: around Nofech St by Cramim school, Nahal Yarkon and Sderot Avnei HaChoshen, Sderot Carmei Gat, Nahal Guvrin and Nahal Zavitan, and the north around Miriam HaNevia St. Some clusters include special-education gans.

For babies and toddlers there are recognised ma'onot (day-care centres) such as Tirosh, Cramim, Shaked and Yahalomim. Gan registration is online through the municipality; for 2026-27 it ran from 19 January to 8 February 2026, and placement is not first-come-first-served.
