Carmei Gat itself has parks, a big free sports park and a climbing centre. The rest of Kiryat Gat adds a city park, an archaeological park and the culture hall, and the Lachish region around it is full of caves, tels and forests. Distances are straight-line from the centre of Carmei Gat.

- Carmei Gat Sportek: free entry Sun-Thu 08:00-23:00, Fridays until an hour before Shabbat, and Saturdays 08:00-23:00, with football, basketball, tennis and beach-volleyball courts, playgrounds and a skate area (matnas (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

In Kiryat Gat (about 2.5-4.5 km south)
- Park Paz in the city centre: a big lawn for city shows, petanque, playgrounds, a story park for toddlers and a fish pond (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Hurvat Patot: a 50-dunam park in the industrial park around a Byzantine mosaic floor, with playgrounds and a cycling track. The industrial park also holds a 'Factories from the inside' festival every Chol HaMoed Sukkot (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Pools: the 4 Onot country club pool is open all year, and the HaShoftim pool only in summer (community site (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Culture hall and library: children's shows, concerts and stand-up most weeks (events (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
Day trips in the region
- Beit Guvrin-Maresha National Park, about 13 km east of Kiryat Gat: caves and a Roman amphitheatre (INPA (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Tel Lachish, about 10 km south-east. Book the visitor centre in advance (INPA (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- HaMalachim-Shahariya forest, about 4 km east of Kiryat Gat: picnic sites and trails (KKL-JNF (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Britannia Park: about 40,000 dunams of forest and historical sites (KKL-JNF (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Metzudat Yoav, Givati museum: about 10 minutes from Kiryat Gat, according to the municipality (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
- Ashkelon National Park, about 22 km west: antiquities and a beach that is open in season (INPA (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
