Registration for 2027-28

On 9 October 2026 the municipality had not yet published registration dates for 2027-28 (5788). For reference, here is the 2026-27 (5787) timetable (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)):

• Gan and 1st grade: online, from Monday 19 Jan 2026 at 09:00 to Sunday 8 Feb 2026, with school open days on Fridays 9 and 16 January (09:00-11:00). Expect a similar window in January 2027.
• 7th grade: online only, 8-22 March 2026. Children are not placed by order of registration.
• Gan questions go to Mercaz Merian on 08-6812368, ext. 0.

Online registration for many cities runs through edu.onecity.co.il (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה). The Education Department is at 4 Mishol Paz St (08-6874601); for registration and transfers call 08-6874606 (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Schools in and near Carmei Gat

• Religious primary: Shabazi and Kol Eliyahu (grades 1-3 in 2025/26, adding a grade a year). State primary: Cramim, Begin and Naomi Shemer (grades 1-2 in 2025/26). There are also Shalhavot Chabad, Shaviti (Haredi) and M'ever L'keshet for special needs (community site (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• High schools: Ulpanat Kiryat Gat / Ort HaDati for religious girls and the Ort secular high school. As of 2026 there is no religious boys' high school in Carmei Gat, so some families use Kiryat Gat or nearby yishuvim (community site (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Nefesh B'Nefesh has school maps of state, state-religious and Haredi schools in Kiryat Gat (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Help for oleh children

• Sha'ot olim: schools give new-immigrant pupils separate Hebrew lessons during the school day, often starting after the autumn holidays. How many hours depends on the municipality and how many olim it has. Some cities also run a group ulpan for oleh children, so ask the municipal absorption department (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• The Ministry of Education's olim department is on 02-5603620 or 02-5603619 (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Olim may be entitled to bagrut leniencies (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Kiryat Gat's absorption department (08-6874573) helps olim with education questions (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Daycare and gans

• Mercaz Merian and Chabad are the main providers for ages 0-5 (community site (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Ma'onot Chabad (08-6813030) take babies from 3 months to 3 years, and Ganei Chabad (08-6834198) are municipal gans in the Chabad network, with Shalhavot Chabad gans for ages 3-5 in Carmei Gat (Chabad of Carmei Gat (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

After school

• Tzaharonim inside schools for grades 1-3, run by the matnas network: until 16:30 with a hot lunch, homework help and clubs. For 2026-27, registration was online until 18 Aug 2026, with later places by availability. Grade 3 groups were planned to open in October. A group needs at least 22 children (grades 1-2 (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה), grade 3 (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Matnas Carmei Gat (4 Nofech St, 08-6252296/7) runs dance, gymnastics, acrobatics, karate, capoeira, mountain biking and a gymboree (matnas (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Youth movements: Bnei Akiva, Tzofim and Maccabi Tzair have Carmei Gat branches (municipality (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
